Noel Garner has painted, primarily in watercolour and oils, for some 25 years. He has been published in Leisure Painter magazine on the subject of “Watercolours in a Hurry”. He has exhibited in galleries around the country and his paintings are in private collections in the UK. USA, Germany and Australia..

Noel fulfilled a personal ambition when, in 2002, he opened his own temporary venue in Cambridge, the Russell Street gallery, and exhibited with his friend and well known local artist and tutor, Derek Batty. Part of the function of the gallery was to provide a space for students from Cambridge Regional College to study and draw. Currently (November 2008) Noel is running a free introductory art course for local residents in the Chesterton area of Cambridge.

The subjects that inform Noel’s art are mostly to be found in nature, and his current obsessions are light and colour. His favourite watercolourists are JS Cotman and Philip Jamieson; and he draws inspiration for oil painting from Pissaro, Kevin McPherson and Ken Howard among many others.
